Every year the week of the fourth of July, my family and I along with about 35 other friends head to Myrtle Beach for vacation. We purchased a three day package to the “Big Cats” courses. There is more than three courses there on the Ocean Ridge Plantation, but our package was just for three (Lion’s Paw, Leopard’s Chase, and Tiger’s Eye). I definitely recommend these courses to anyone looking for affordable golf in the Grand Strand. Leopard’s Chase was the most demanding course of the three as many of the holes require precision tee shots and long carry’s over marsh waste areas. Even though all three courses were difficult (all were around a 75 rating from the tips at 7200 yards) they were all in perfect condition and very enjoyable.

I noticed that they’ve recently reduced the Taylor Made Tour Burner which came out last year. Anyone used it? How do you like it? I’m looking to replace my Cleveland XLS and like the looks of the Taylor Made Tour Burner.

I had heard so many good things about this driver but the longer I use it, the more I hate it. I’ve read a lot of reviews from people saying that the only thing they can hit with this driver is a low hook. I must say, I’m right there with everyone else. I hit the ball extremely low and it’s usually hooking, hard. Just about the only way I can hit one straight is if I intentionally try to slice the ball.

Anyone else seen a similar ball flight with the Cleveland HiBore XLS?

I’ve been using TeeShot and it’s pretty sweet. Really gets the gadget envy going when my golfing buddies are using scorecards and those ridiculous tiny pencils, and I’m over here tracking my shots, yardage, and so on right from my phone.

Anyone else find any golf-related apps for the iPhone that they like? There are a number of them and I’ve only had time to try one or two others, and I stopped after I found TeeShot. The developer already has multi-user tracking in the works for the next version, but for now it can only track one golfer per round, which is kind of a bummer.

Currently I’m required to know either the exact zipcode, city, or name of a course, but if I know these details already, I’m not likely to go to a website to find them. Or I would, but I’d be using Google, 411.com, etc. to get a phone number for a tee time. I’d like to be able to use this site to discover new courses, but it’s currently very difficult. Some suggestions that might make the site more useful to me:

* Ability to “browse all”.
* Browse by City name, listing all cities with courses entered.
* Map view, with pins for all courses

And informationally, it would be nice if the courses had a scorecard, perhaps that users could enter and update to take the weight off of the site administration for this task. A weather forecast for the course’s location for the next 24-48 hours would be cool as well.

Thanks for putting this site together, Deron!

I’m really interested in purchasing one of these putters. I have a Yes! Callie putter right now and I love it, but sometimes it just doesn’t seem to suit my eye (like most clubs do at times in this crazy game). I really like the Guerin Rife Hybrid center shafted putter, but I can’t find any at the local golf stores to try out.

Anyone have one of these putters? How do you like it?
