Kearney Hill Golf Links Ranked 4th in the United States by Golf Link

Golf Link is one of the best web resources for golf information and instruction on the internet and they’ve compiled a list of the top 100 courses in the United States. Kearney Hill Golf Links is number four on Golf Link’s list of 100, just behind Bethpage Black, Augusta National and Pine Valley Golf Club.
This really comes as no surprise to me, this is one of my favorite courses in Kentucky, of the ones I’ve played that is. I work in Frankfort full time and usually will stop by Kearney Hill on my way back to Lexington to practice. Kearney has a great practice facility with two large putting greens, a chipping green with two deep bunkers surrounding it and plenty of space on the range to accommodate all the traffic this course receives.
Best muni i have ever played. Pete Dye for $34 including cart and is maintained like a $150 course. By far the best public course in KY.
The course is a Pete Dye design and is a links style course. It has been host to such events as the Senior PGA Tour, Celebrity Players Tour, PGA Junior Series, the 1998 Men’s United States Amateur Public Links Championship as well as many local and state championships. It is a tough layout but fair layout. If you are hitting the ball well, you can score well. If you’re not on top of your game you’ll likely struggle with the water hazards and numerous bunkers surrounding the fairways and greens. Be prepared to face high winds as there are very few trees on the course.
Kearney plays just over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and has a course rating of 73.5 with a slope of 128. Carmello Benassi manages Kearney and is the head golf professional. I’ve received several lessons from Carmello myself and I highly recommend seeing him if your game seems to have found the gutter.
